Supported Media Formats

Playing a MIDI file in sync with an Audio/Video file (QMidi Pro only)

  1. Copy the MIDI file into the same directory as the audio/video (AV) file.
  2. Rename the MIDI file using the same name as the AV file, keeping the MIDI extension (.mid or .kar).
  3. Open the AV file in QMidi. The MIDI file will be played perfectly in sync.

Karaoke Formats

Text Karaoke

The most common karaoke format. Lyrics are stored as text inside the media file. QMidi supports many MIDI karaoke variants and also reads MP3 ID3 lyrics (SYLT, Lyrics3).

Movie Karaoke

Many karaoke files exist in movie form. QMidi can display any movie format supported by macOS AVFoundation.

CDG

QMidi supports playback of extracted CD+G files. If a CDG file is paired with an audio file (for example: songname.mp3 + songname.cdg), the CDG graphics will appear in the Karaoke or Mirror windows.

QMidi cannot read directly from CD+G discs. You must first extract the CD+G graphics using dedicated software.
